Overview
Relax in the Scottish countryside with the freedom of this self-catering cottage. Ideal for a
romantic couple to take a break from a busy schedule and relax with walks through the farm
countryside.
Fishing is one of Scotlands most popular recreational pastimes and you are spoilt for choice
around Bramblebank — within walking distance, the nearby Banton Loch provides wild trout
fishing and a number of trout farms are within 30 minutes drive for those inclined to
improve the odds in their favour !
For the golfer, a number of nearby golf courses provide plenty of opportunity — even Gleneagles
is only around 40 minutes drive away.
Local Facilities
Bramblebank is situated right in the middle of Central Scotland - virtually any part
of Scotland can be reached within 3 hours drive and many tourist attractions are easily
reached in less than 1½ hours.
Kilsyth is close by with shopping facilities for daily grocery needs and a modern swimming
pool, with sauna and fitness facilities, is open seven days.
Both Glasgow and Edinburgh can be reached by road but are also well served by a rail link
from nearby Croy station. Glasgow has ample moderately priced parking facilities and a wide
range of shopping facilities for all tastes. However, when visiting Edinburgh, travel by
train is virtually essential due to the extreme difficultly and high costs of parking in
Edinburgh.
Fishing Information
Banton Loch is within walking distance and is a popular fishing venue for those seeking to pit their
wits against trout in a freshwater loch.
Within easy driving distance are both
Swanswater Fishery and the
North Third Trout Fishery.
Both these are set in the hills between Bramblebank and Stirling - you can travel through the country
roads enjoying some scenery as you go or elect to travel via the motorway to Stirling and then
only a short trip through the country roads — either route takes around 20 minutes, the longer
distance of the motorway being offset by the higher travel speeds.
Alternatively, you can also opt for
Menteith Fisheries
which is situated at Lake Of Menteith, a site of special scientific interest, and which has the ruins of
the 13th century Inchmahome Priory on the largest of the Lake's three islands.
Golf Information
Kilsyth has an 18 hole golf course and the internationally renowned Westerwood course is
around 15 minutes drive away on the outskirts of Cumbernauld.
Due to the G8 summit, Gleneagles and the surrounding Perthshire
area will not be accessible during June or July 2005 - there are plenty of equally high quality
options within the Central Scotland area instead.
